Pick a category above, then hit "Generate" to get your costume.
Getting more out of the costume generator
A random pick is a starting point, not a final decision. Press Generate a few times, note the two or three ideas that make you smile, and then decide using what you already own. The best last-minute costumes are usually built from a base of plain clothes plus one or two recognisable props, so choose ideas you can pull together with a shirt, a jacket, some face paint or a hat.
If you are choosing for a group, a couple or a family, try one category per person and see whether any of the results fit together. For children's costumes, a few safety points are worth checking whatever you pick:
- Make sure the child can see clearly. Face paint is often safer than a mask that blocks their view.
- Check that hems and capes are not long enough to trip over, especially on stairs.
- Add reflective tape or carry a torch if you will be out after dark.
- Look for costumes labelled flame resistant, and keep trick-or-treaters well away from candles and open flames.
- Do a trial run at home so you know the costume is comfortable for the whole evening.
Each idea comes with a short how-to to help you put it together. Nothing you do on this page is stored or sent anywhere.
FAQ
Can I get the same costume twice?
It's possible, especially in the smaller categories — each generate is a fresh random pick, not a shuffled list that avoids repeats.
Can I pick a specific costume instead of random?
Not directly — this tool is built for "surprise me" browsing. If you want to see everything in a category, just keep hitting generate.
